Electronic Cigarette – Compare Ingredients

Much ado has been made about the ingredients of the e-liquids found in an electronic cigarette. The resulting hype leans toward the perception that electronic cigarettes are worse than real cigarettes. Most promoters of this view usually end up with the admonition that it is better to stick to the “traditional methods” for giving up smoking. What this actually translates to is that you are better off smoking tobacco than your are smoking an electronic cigarette, because as most of us failed quitters already know, the traditional methods just don’t work.

It seems for the first time since the introduction of the blight of smoking on the world, someone has had their fur ruffled  That same someone is working overtime to tar the name (excuse the pun) of the electronic cigarette. I’m not a conspiracy buff but the mind boggles, so let’s get a little perspective, let’s do a quick comparison of just some of the ingredients in an electronic cigarette with those of a real cigarette. The green text shows those additives that exist in both the electronic cigarette and real cigarettes. Note the inclusion of Propylene Glycol in both.

Please note that only 610 ingredients have been listed for the real cigarette, as these are the ones that have been added. Compare even this number to the 15 listed for the electronic cigarette. But remember, when burned, the tobacco itself produces another 3,000 or so chemicals, many of which are suspected to be carcinogen.  Given a choice I’d place my faith in the electronic cigarette when I’m inhaling something into my lungs.
